You Chose Selection #1:
Continued non-operative treatment including ESI’s, oral medication and activity modification

While this is a viable option, it is not the best treatment. Although our patient in this example does not have any absolute surgical indications such as Cauda Equina Syndrome or progressive motor deficits, and may ultimately improve without surgical intervention, the severity of her pain is affecting her ability to perform normal everyday activities. Since she wishes to have definitive treatment and has had no improvement after 4 months of non-operative treatment, a surgical evaluation is warranted.
